Tran Phuc Ngoc Thinh comes from a modest family of eight, inclusive of his parents, five school-age siblings, and his 73-year-old grandmother. Lacking any cultivated land, the family relies on the combined efforts of Thinh’s mother, who works as a laborer in dragon fruit plantations, and his father, employed in a motorcycle washing and repair service. Their meager average income stands at $0.91 per person per day.
This limited financial resource frequently falls short in covering fundamental living expenses, educational fees, and school supplies for the five children. To address this, the family recently secured a high-interest loan of $152 to fulfill school-related obligations, such as fees and purchasing second-hand textbooks.
A scholarship for Ngoc Thinh would not only alleviate the family’s financial strain associated with educational expenses but would also enhance his prospects of advancing to the next academic level. Such support becomes instrumental in reshaping the trajectory of Thinh’s educational journey and future opportunities.
