Ms. Đinh Thị Kim Tuyết, born in 1991, and her husband, Mr. Lê Văn Trí, born in 1983, are currently living in the home of Mr. Trí’s parents in Khu Vực 2, Trà Lồng Ward, Long Mỹ Town, Hậu Giang Province. Mr. Trí works as a laborer, earning about 200,000 VND (7 euros) per day. However, his work is unstable, and he often has to take on additional jobs such as catching snails and setting fishing nets to make ends meet. His wife, Ms. Tuyết, is a homemaker who cares for their young children, including their baby, Lê Anh Quân, born in 2022.
The Tuyết family is classified as a poor household, without any land for farming, and their average income is only about 419,000 (16 euros) VND per person per month. They have four children: Lê Văn Hậu (born in 2009, currently in 9th grade), Lê Thành Hiếu (born in 2012, currently in 8th grade), Lê Thị Trúc Anh (born in 2016, currently in 2nd grade), and Lê Anh Quân (born in 2022). Trúc Anh has had a blood tumor since she was about 2 years old, and due to financial difficulties, the family cannot afford regular hospital visits, relying instead on medication from a private doctor.
Hậu, the eldest son, helps his mother with household chores, cares for his younger sister, and tutors his siblings outside of school hours. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced him to take a year off from school, Hậu has maintained good academic performance and dreams of becoming a doctor to treat his sister and others in need.
Due to limited job opportunities, Mr. Trí’s income is insufficient to support the family. They hope to raise 3,000,000 VND (111 euros) to start raising chickens and ducks to increase their income, which would help cover medical expenses for Trúc Anh and education costs for their children. They also need 4,500,000 VND (167 euros) per year for Hậu’s schooling (Total: 7,500,000 VND=278 euros).
