Mrs. Phuong’s family has five members and belongs to the near-poor household category in the commune. Mrs. Phuong is a single mother and the main breadwinner of the family. However, she suffers from goiter and must take medication daily as part of her ongoing treatment.
The family does not own any farmland. Mrs. Phuong’s main livelihood and source of income come from selling fish and raising chickens behind the house. Her eldest daughter is married and lives far away; due to difficult living conditions, she has sent her two children back for Mrs. Phuong to raise.
Her second child was involved in a serious accident in 2024, resulting in severe brain injury, and is no longer able to do heavy labor. The third daughter has a congenital brittle bone disease, is unable to walk, and stays at home full-time.
Currently, the two grandchildren are studying in Grade 11 and Grade 6. All household expenses are borne solely by Mrs. Phuong. Occasionally, her eldest daughter sends USD 80 to help support the two children. As a result, the family is facing severe financial hardship.
At present, Mrs. Phuong is raising more than 60 chickens and plans to raise an additional 100 chickens. She needs approximately 5,000,000 VND (around USD 192) to purchase chicken feed and repair the chicken coop. As livestock farming is the family’s main livelihood, additional capital is urgently needed to improve the facilities and feed supply, in order to increase income and sustain the household.
Mrs. Phuong and her family respectfully request support from Thien Chi Center to help them overcome this difficult period.
