Yearn Ariya is a 9-year-old girl living in Trapeang Thom village, Angk Prasrae commune, Romeas Haek district, Svay Rieng province, Cambodia. In 2026, she is studying in Grade 4 at Trapeang Thom Primary School. Despite her difficult family situation, Ariya is known as a polite, hardworking, and motivated student who always tries her best in school.
Every day, Ariya walks approximately 2 kilometers from her home to school with her friends. The journey takes around 40 minutes on foot. Occasionally, when her friends invite her to share a bicycle ride, she joins them, but transportation remains a major challenge for her family. During the rainy season, the road becomes difficult, sometimes causing her to arrive late or miss school.
Ariya comes from a very poor family. They live in a small and modest house and do not own any farming land. Her mother earns a small income by raising chickens and making traditional alcohol for sale. The family income is estimated at only around $18 per person per month, which is insufficient to cover daily living expenses, healthcare, and Ariya’s educational needs.
Sadly, Ariya’s father passed away three years ago, leaving her mother to raise her alone. The family has three members:
- Pen Sokhom – mother, 44 years old
- Pin Yon – father, deceased
- Yearn Ariya – 9 years old, Grade 4 student
Every morning, Ariya wakes up early to help her mother clean the house and wash dishes before going to school. Because of poverty, she does not have enough school supplies and often wears old clothes to school. Her breakfast usually consists of leftover rice and food from the previous evening, and she brings drinking water from home every day.
Despite these difficult living conditions, Ariya remains determined to continue her studies. She understands the importance of education and hopes it will help her build a better future and support her mother one day.
However, due to financial hardship and transportation difficulties, Ariya is sometimes absent from school or arrives late to class. Without additional support, there is a risk that poverty may negatively affect her ability to continue her education.
Request for Sponsorship
To help Ariya continue her education in better conditions, the family is requesting a monthly sponsorship of 30 euros per month. This support will help provide:
- School supplies and educational materials
- Food and basic daily needs
- Transportation support, including a bicycle
- School uniforms and clothing
- Extra classes and educational assistance
Your support would help Ariya remain in school, improve her learning conditions, and give her hope for a brighter and more stable future.
A small contribution can make a meaningful difference in transforming the life of this hardworking young girl.
