Van Ngoc Diệu, born in 2017, is currently a Grade 4 student. She lives in a family of five with her parents and two brothers. Her older brother has suffered from chronic epilepsy since he was one year old and requires regular care and supervision, while her younger brother, born in 2022, is now attending preschool.
Dieu’s father works as a security guard at Vinh Tan Power Plant, about 36 kilometers from home, earning around 130 EUR per month. He travels by motorbike every day and returns home in the evening to help care for his eldest son. Her mother runs a small mobile coffee and snack stall with her sister on the roadside because she cannot afford to rent a proper space. On a good day, she earns a profit of about 3 to 7 EUR, but some days there are very few customers. When it rains, she often cannot work at all because her only umbrella is old and torn.
The family’s average income is only about 28 EUR per person per month. Because of their difficult situation, the government has provided approximately 1,950 EUR toward the construction of a small house, which is currently being built. However, with three children to care for, including one with a chronic illness, the family still struggles to cover education and daily living costs.
To help Dieu continue their education in better conditions, the family is requesting a monthly sponsorship of 30 EUR per month. This support will help provide:
- School supplies, clothing, and other educational needs.
- Purchase basic equipment and ingredients to sell bánh xèo (pancake) in the evening, creating an additional source of income when morning sales are poor.
This combination of education and livelihood support would help Dieu stay in school while giving her family a better chance to gradually become more financially stable.
