Truong Nguyen Bao An

Truong Nguyen Bao An, born in 2017, is currently a Grade 4 student living with her maternal grandparents and two older brothers. Her mother passed away in a traffic accident, while her father left and no longer takes care of the children. Since then, their elderly grandparents have taken responsibility for raising all three siblings. An’s two older brothers have learning difficulties and are no longer able to attend school.

The family has about 3,000 square meters of farmland, but because of their age, the grandparents can only grow vegetables and lemongrass on a small scale. An’s grandmother also sells noodle soup, earning around 3 EUR per day, while her grandfather works as a village security guard for about 35 EUR per month. With this modest income, they must provide for five family members and cover the daily needs of three grandchildren.

Despite their age and financial difficulties, the grandparents are determined to keep An in school. Each new school year brings additional expenses for books, uniforms, learning materials, and other school needs, placing increasing pressure on the family.

Support of 30 EUR per month would help cover An’s essential education costs and give her a better chance to continue learning. Part of the support could also help her grandmother purchase ingredients and basic supplies to expand her small food business, creating additional income for the family. This combination of education and livelihood support would help An stay in school while strengthening her grandparents’ ability to care for all three children.
