Trần Vũ Phong is a student in class 6A2 at Thuận An Secondary School. He lives in Area 4, Long Mỹ Ward, Can Tho City, formerly Hau Giang Province, with his younger brother and grandparents.
Phong’s family lives in very difficult conditions, with an average income of only about 16 EUR per person per month. His grandmother, Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Thủy, has suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis, spinal scoliosis, sciatic pain, and recently a serious lung illness that required hospitalization. His grandfather, Mr. Trần Hải Vân, has undergone several stomach and intestinal surgeries and still needs regular medicine for stomach bleeding.
Phong and his younger brother were very young when their parents divorced. Their mother has never returned to visit them, while their father has remarried and can only visit occasionally, without being able to support the family. The two boys are therefore mainly cared for by their elderly grandparents.
Despite these hardships, Phong remains a hardworking and well-behaved student. After school, he catches fish and snails for food and helps collect leftover rice grains during the harvest season to feed the ducks. He knows that education is his best chance to build a better future and one day support his family.
We are calling for support of 20 EUR per month for 12 months to help Phong cover his study costs and continue going to school with confidence.
