Thy Vuthang

Vuthang is one of the poor pupils living in Neang Chan village, Chrung Popel commune, Romdoul district, Svay Rieng province. In 2025, he is studying in grade 5 at Trapeang Veng Primary School and is 12 years old. He is a good student in his class.

Every day, he walks about 3 km from home to school with his friend. Occasionally, if another friend invites him to ride a bicycle, he joins, but this does not happen often. If he walks, it takes him about 60 minutes to reach school.

His family is very poor. They are farmers with a small house and only 0.30 hectares of farming land. Their income is approximately $15 per person per month, but currently, they have no income because his father recently passed away due to an electrical accident one month ago. His mother is unemployed and stays at home to take care of the children.

Vuthang lives with his mother, brothers, and sister. The family consists of five members:

1. Meas Dara (female, 32 years old) – Single mother
2. Thy Vuthang (male, 12 years old) – Studying in grade 5
3. Thy Vuthung (male, 9 years old) – Studying in grade 2
4. Thy Vuthkou (male, 8 years old) – Studying in grade 1
5. Thy Sreymork (female, 4 months old)

They live in Neang Chan village, Chrung Popel commune, Romdoul district, Svay Rieng province. Their income is not enough to support the family due to high expenses for healthcare and raising the children.

Vuthang wakes up early every morning to clean the house. He does not have enough school materials, and his clothes are old and worn. He usually studies in the morning, and for breakfast, he eats leftover rice and food from the previous evening. Every day, he brings a bottle of water from home.

He often arrives late to school and is sometimes absent due to family problems and transportation issues. His family has requested support from CAO for a bicycle and a scholarship to help him continue his education.
