Sopim is a 10-year-old boy living in Takot village, Trapeang Sdao commune, Romeas Haek district, Svay Rieng province, Cambodia. In 2026, he is studying in Grade 4 at Udomsamki Primary School. Despite his difficult family situation, Sopim is known as a respectful, hardworking, and motivated student who always tries his best in his studies.
Every day, Sopim walks approximately 2 kilometers from his home to school with his friends, which takes around 40 minutes. Occasionally, when his friends invite him to ride together on a bicycle, he is able to join them, but transportation remains a major challenge for him. During the rainy season, traveling to school becomes even more difficult, sometimes causing him to arrive late or miss classes.
Sopim comes from a very poor family. They live in a small and modest house and do not own any farming land. The family survives through temporary and unstable jobs, including farming, raising chickens, seasonal pepper plantation work in Kampong Cham province, and construction work in Bavet city. Their average income is estimated at only around $19 per person per month, which is insufficient to cover daily food expenses, healthcare, and the educational needs of the children.
The family has five members:
- Sor Kea, father, 40 years old
- Sim Searn, mother, 31 years old
- Noun Sopim, 10 years old, Grade 4 student
- Noun Sreyny, 7 years old, Grade 1 student
- Noun Borey, 5 years old
Because of poverty, the family struggles to support their children’s education and healthcare expenses. Every morning, Sopim wakes up early to help his mother clean the house and wash dishes before going to school. He often lacks sufficient school supplies and usually wears old clothes to school.
His breakfast generally consists of leftover rice and food from the previous evening, and he brings drinking water from home each day. Despite these hardships, Sopim remains determined to continue his studies because he hopes education will help improve his future and support his family one day.
However, without support, the family may not be able to continue meeting his educational needs, placing him at risk of falling behind or leaving school in the future.
Request for Sponsorship
To help Sopim continue his education in better conditions, the family is requesting a monthly sponsorship of 30 euros per month. This support will help provide:
- School supplies and educational materials
- Food and basic daily needs
- Transportation support, including a bicycle
- School uniforms and clothing
- Extra classes and educational assistance
Your support would help Sopim remain in school, improve his learning conditions, and give him hope for a brighter and more stable future.
A small contribution can make a meaningful difference in transforming the life of this hardworking young boy.
