Sey Ha and Rotha

Romdoul district – Cambodia

9€/month for 12 months

Sey Ha

Sey Ha, a Grade 4 student, and his older brother Rotha, who is in Grade 5, are both attending Kampong Ampil Primary School in Romdoul district, Svay Rieng province. The two boys live with their grandmother, their single mother, and a younger sibling. Their parents divorced four years ago, and since then, the family has faced many challenges.

The family owns just 0.40 hectares of farmland, which they use to grow one rice crop per year. This yields about 700 kilograms of rice annually—barely enough to meet their basic food needs. To earn additional income, their mother works as a cleaner in a private household in Phnom Penh. She sends what she can home, but despite her efforts, the family’s total income averages only €22 per person per month.

Sey Ha and Rotha are both hardworking and committed to their studies. However, the cost of education—including school materials, uniforms, and extra classes—amounts to around €43 per month for the two brothers. This is a significant burden for the family, already struggling to meet daily living expenses.

To help ease this hardship and ensure the boys can continue their education, the family is seeking a monthly sponsorship of €9 for 12 months. This support would go a long way in giving Sey Ha and Rotha the opportunity to stay in school and pursue a brighter future.
