Nguyen Ngoc Kim Thao

Nguyen Ngoc Kim Thao is a Grade 5 student living in Bac Ruong Commune, Lam Dong Province, with her mother and older brother. She is a kind, hardworking child who dreams of continuing her education despite the many difficulties her family faces. Her father passed away in 2021 after a serious liver illness, leaving her mother to raise the two children alone. The family is classified as poor, owns no farmland, and depends on irregular day labor such as weeding, drying rice, collecting firewood, and gathering rubber latex. Even with the efforts of all three family members, their combined income is often only 2 to 3 EUR per day.

After school, Thao helps her mother with housework, and during school holidays, she joins her mother to collect leftover rubber latex to earn a little extra income. She rarely has new clothes or school supplies, but she remains determined to study and stay in school.

The family used to raise pigs, but all were sold to pay for her father’s medical treatment, and the pig pens have been empty since then. Support of 30 EUR per month would help Kim Thao to:

– Cover school supplies, clothing,

– Food, and basic needs.

– Purchase a pair of piglets (about 100 EUR)

This support would not only help cover her education costs, but also help the family restart pig raising, create a small source of income, and reduce the risk of Kim Thao and her brother interrupting their education.
