Luu Phuong Thuy, born in 2008, is a Grade 12 student. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she has grown up under the care of her father and paternal grandparents.
In 2016, financial hardship forced the family to leave their hometown in Dong Thap and move in search of work. With no house of their own, they were allowed to stay in a small shelter on a dragon fruit farm. Her father worked as a security guard, while her grandfather took seasonal jobs on nearby farms.
Life became much more difficult in 2022 when Thuy’s father suffered a stroke. He lost his ability to work and has remained bedridden ever since. The family now depends mainly on the small and irregular income earned by Thuy’s elderly grandparents. Her grandfather continues to take farm work whenever possible, while her grandmother is also aging and frequently unwell. Their limited income must cover both daily expenses and her father’s ongoing medical needs.
Despite these challenges, Thuy has remained in school with the support of her grandparents, teachers, neighbors, and local community. She is now in her final year of high school, an important turning point in her education. Thuy hopes to continue studying and build a better future so that one day she can support her father and repay the grandparents who have sacrificed so much for her.
Support of 30 EUR per month would help cover Thuy’s school supplies, learning materials, and other essential education costs, while also contributing to her father’s medication. At this critical stage, the support would give Thuy a better chance to complete Grade 12 and continue pursuing her education without adding further pressure on her elderly grandparents.
