Le Thi Thanh Thuy is currently a 2nd-grade student, while her brother is attending 6th grade this academic year. The family, comprising four members, including the parents and two children, relies on four plots of land for cultivating corn and beans in Ham Can commune—a remote highland region where cultivation primarily occurs during the rainy season. Additionally, they engage in collecting bamboo shoots, which they dry and sell during the Tet lunar new year. In the dry season, the family takes on laborer roles to sustain their livelihood.
With an average monthly income of approximately $38 per person, the family faces the challenges of living in a deteriorating house constructed from corrugated iron sheets and bamboo. Sponsoring a scholarship for Thanh Thuy will significantly contribute to alleviating the family’s financial strain associated with education expenses, ensuring that Thanh Thuy can continue her education without additional burdens.
