Thi Ngoc Nu is currently in the 4th grade. The family, comprising four members, resides together with her mother and maternal grandparents. Tragically, her mother, Nguyen Thi Yen Ngoc, grapples with severe congenital cerebral palsy, rendering her unable to walk or attend to her own care. The circumstances leading to her birth are marked by adversity, as she became pregnant at the age of 16 after being a victim of burglary and assault. The grandmother, Nguyen Thi Than, has been the primary caregiver for Ngoc Nu since her birth, while the grandfather, Le Thanh The, was historically the family’s primary breadwinner. Regrettably, he now suffers from joint issues and is currently hospitalized.
The family’s income relies on social food assistance, amounting to $39 per month. In addition to this, the grandmother engages in activities such as raising chickens and cultivating vegetables to sustain the family. Despite the challenging circumstances, the community, including neighbors and villagers, regularly extends support to the family. Sponsoring a scholarship for Ngoc Nu will play a pivotal role in ensuring her continued education. The financial assistance will not only help cover school-related expenses but also contribute to alleviating the family’s overall economic struggles.
