Nhu’s father left before she was born. She grew up with her mother and grandmother in a family with no farmland or stable income.
Her mother previously worked as a labourer to support Nhu’s education. However, after suffering from hepatitis C for the past three years, she is now almost unable to work and faces high medical expenses. The family depends mainly on Nhu’s elderly grandmother, who sells sticky rice every morning for a small income.
Despite these hardships, Nhu remains committed to her studies and hopes to complete Grade 12. She believes education will help her build a better future and one day care for her mother and grandmother.
