Dang Le Ngoc Uyen, 16 years old is a 9th-grade student growing up in a family of five in a remote farming village. Her father is often away from home, working long hours just to make ends meet. At home, her mother, Mrs. Hang, struggles with poor health while managing a small 1,500 square meter apple orchard and caring for goats and sheep. Recently, the sharp decline in goat prices has made their main source of income even more uncertain.
On average, the family lives on less than $33 USD per person per month, barely enough to cover basic needs.
Despite the hardships, Uyen is diligent and resilient. She consistently performs well in school and, after class, helps care for her 2 younger siblings who are at secondary and primary schools and takes on housework so her mother can rest or find occasional labor jobs. Uyen dreams of continuing her education, securing a stable job in the future to support her parents and siblings.
We hope to support Uyen’s family with a monthly scholarship of 11€ / month for 12 months.
