Nguyen Thi Kim Dao

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Hieu, suffering from cerebral anemia and arm weakness, cannot bear the heavy labor. She stays at home, does the housework and takes care of her children. All the family burden is put on her husband who sometimes works as a day laborer or tractor driver. In the past, they got a loan from the state bank to invest in cassava (a relative lent them the land), but got a serious loss of profit from the harvest. They still owe a big debt of 2045 dollars. The house they live in, made of wood, is old, seriously degraded, and in danger of collapsing at any time during the rainy season. With an income of only $25 per person per month, it is too difficult to cover both the cost of living and the costs of education for the three school-aged children, including Nguyen Thi Anh Dao (6th year), Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc (4th year) and Nguyen Hoang Long (2nd year).
